速扎第十五 — 喬布斯十言

我不是一個蘋果迷,沒有iphone,沒有ipad,也不用iMac,曾經連apps也不知是甚麼。在我記憶中,只知道喬布斯是蘋果公司的創辦人。不過我也相信,很多人都不是很了解他,反而比解了解他的發明產品。總有些人會以為,熟悉iphone就等於很了解喬布斯,因為我們可以用apps搜尋有關他的事。其實,還不是要等他走了,才從新聞報告中知道他的一二?究竟你覺得改變世界、改變你生活的,是他本人,還是iphone呢?
翻查一些他的名言,反而比獲得ipad2更有益。以下我挑選了幾句:
1. 你想要花費你的餘生在賣糖水,還是想要有一個改變世界的機會?
(Do you want to spend the rest of your life selling sugared water or do you want a chance to change the world?)
2. 當海盜比加入海軍更加的有趣。
(It's more fun to be a pirate than to join the navy.)
3. 你不能詢問顧客,他們想要什麼新產品,然後嘗試給出他們所想要的。而是當你創造出顧客所要的產品時,他們就會想要新的!
(You can't just ask customers what they want and then try to give that to them. By the time you get it built, they'll want something new.)
4. 我認為,當你做了一些事,且結果還不錯的時候,你應該要繼續讓更多美好的事發生,而不是在其中沉溺太久。只要想著,「下一個,會是什麼?」!
(I think if you do something and it turns out pretty good, then you should go do something else wonderful, not dwell on it for too long. Just figure out what's next.)
5. 如果我每天早晨站在鏡子前問自己:「如果今天就是我生命的最後一天,我還會想去做我今天預計要做的事嗎?」如果這個答案是「不」且維持了一陣子,那麼我就需要做些改變了。
( I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself: "If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?" And whenever the answer has been "No" for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something. I didn't see it then, but it turned out that getting fired from Apple was the best thing that could have ever happened to me. )
6. 所以,你必須要相信你生活當中的每個重要時間點都會與你的未來有關。你必須要相信一些事,可能是你的直覺、命運、人生、因果報應或是其他的,但無論如何,這個方式從來沒有令我失望,而是讓我的生命更加與眾不同。
(So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something — your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.)
7. 想要做出一番偉大事業的唯一道路,就是要愛你所做。如果你還沒有找到,那麼持續地尋找吧!不要停滯下來。跟隨你自己的心,當你找到的那一刻,你會知道的。
(The only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle. As with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you find it.)
8. 我願意用我所有的科技去換取和蘇格拉底相處的一個下午。
(I would trade all of my technology for an afternoon with Socrates.)
9. 成為墳墓裡最有錢的人對我來說並不重要,能夠在夜晚準備躺下睡覺時,能對著自己說出一句「我們真的做了一些美好的事」,對我才是有意義的。
(Being the richest man in the cemetery doesn't matter to me ... Going to bed at night saying we've done something wonderful... that's what matters to me.)
10. 記得自己就快要死了的這件事,是我所遇過能幫助我作下人生重大決定的最好工具。
(Remembering that I'll be dead soon is the most important tool I've ever encountered to help me make the big choices in life.)
世界沒有喬布斯,但世界依然會有iphone5。你忘了喬布斯的樣子,但絕忘不了那個蘋果logo。
